[edit] Concept & History

Oblivion Dust (オブリヴィオン・ダスト) (OD) was a Japanese band rock that sung mainly in english and sometimes in japanese created in 1996 and formed by Ken Lloyd (vocalist, though originally would be a second guitarist in the band, but in a drunken slur he became in the vocalist), Kaz Iwaike (guitar), Matt Garrett (bass) and TAKA (drumm), though earlier had formed part of the band Derek Forbes (who had played bass on the first record and then he had re-joined Simple Minds and so was unavailable to continue working with OD)and was replaced in bass by Koozie Johns also known as Jer Koozie who only performance in some shows during 1996 and then left the band. Besides having as producer in their 2 first albums to Ray McVeigh (The Professionals, Zilch, Wild Crash 500, etc.).

On January 1997, they released their first single entitled Sucker, which marked offially the foundation of the band. March witnessed the release of their second single Numb, and in April that same year the group toured the West Coast of the US with a series of 10 concerts. Before 1997 was over, they managed to release one more single and their first full album entitled Looking for Elvis. They also returned to the Western United States to play 10 more concerts and toured their native Japan twice, playing 10 and 5 gigs subsequently.

With the coming of 1998, one new members joined Oblivion Dust: Rikiji who replaced Matt Garrett. Oblivion Dust also played as the sole Japanese opening band for the UK electronic group, The Prodigy's gig in Tokyo. 1998 also saw the release of their second album: Misery Days. In November of 1998, Furuton(ex-Space Cowboys) replaced Taka who left around August.

In 1999 Oblivion Dust released 5 new singles, another new album and their first video, Overdose. Apart from that, they toured all year long, playing with other well known bands such as Marilyn Manson and Zilch . In November their official fanclub, embryo, was temporarily opened, and December witnessed the opening of their official website.

The band begun the year 2000 with a nationwide Reborn tour. In February their fanclub was officially opened, and in May their new song entitled S.O.S. appeared at the Japanese version of the Mission: Impossible II soundtrack. In the same year, the band played numerous sold-out gigs; they also played at the Summer Sonic festival, released more singles, an album and their second video. The gig performed on December 23 at the Tokyo NK Hall turned out to be Rikiji's last, as he decided to quit the band soon afterwards.

In January 2001, their support member Masaru gained the status of an official member, and the band was joined by a new bassist Juken as a support member. The menbers didn't enjoy their new roles for long, because only a few months later, in June 2001, Oblivion Dust officially disbanded. The last release was the album entitled Radio Songs (the best of Oblivion Dust) which came out two months after Oblivion Dust's official disbandment,The group did their 2 last concerts that were called Last two nights "THANK YOU & GOOD BYE" the September 22 and 23 thought.
