Madbeavers was started some time in 1998, with their first 'showing' at Yokohama Arena in November of 1998 during the tribal Ja, Zoo tour (which was a posthumous presentation of hide's last album with the band Spread Beaver. Originally the band was known as Kiyoshi's The Mad Beavers, the name under which the live album Burst was released. The name is likely a tribute to the name Spread Beaver, which all the band's members were involved in.
