[edit] Chiba Ryohei

One of the three members of the popular pop group w-inds., Chiba Ryohei was chosen with his fellow dancer Ogata Ryuichi to join the winner of the ASAYAN Idol Contest 2000, Tachibana Keita, in forming the trio musical force. Originally, the two dancers were only to be backup for Keita, but their roles in w-inds. were greatly increased through backup singing, small solos and rapping.

Ryohei is a very proficient breakdancer, and attended dance school with Ryuichi. He also snowboards, plays soccer, and can play the bass guitar.

He is the eldest, and the more introverted of the three, often sitting beside the others in television shows and interviews, content to only interject into Keita and Ryuichi's banter every once in a while. He has been known to be unconfident at points, but works very hard at everything he does.

[edit] Background

Ryohei began training very early on in his life, most specifically in dance, and met fellow w-inds. member Ryuichi in dance school. He eventually was admitted to one of the best high schools in his hometown of Sapporo. He has one sister, Sayaka, and keeps two dogs at home with his family.

[edit] JRRP History

Ryohei is not a social creature, though he would like to be, and is presently attempting to break himself of his hermitting. When he does attend parties he tends to stick to the side of whatever friend he managed to go with, and rarely reaches out to strangers. One of the few he's come somewhat close to is Uchi Hiroki, currently hiatused member of NEWS. The two have had an on again off again friendship, mostly due to Hiroki and Ryohei's often unavailability. Ryohei attended Uchi's birthday party last year, where he gave him an orange tabby cat for a gift. After he heard through the grapevine of people joking about his clingy nature that evening, he shrunk into himself further.

The main reason for his recovering antisocial streak, however, was that his two groupmates were more often than not missing in action.

Ryohei ousted himself as gay in the winter of 2005, and after that it would seem that the news caused distance between the three. Convinced it was that, Ryohei threw himself into the invitation one of their backup dancers offered, which was to become his boyfriend. The dancer's name was/is Ken, but their relationship was shortlived due to the fact that Ryohei simply didn't and couldn't develop feelings for him. They continue to remain friends.

It wasn't until the winter of 2005 that Keita and Ryuichi, under fresh muns, were a constant and stable element in his life. They were still repairing the estrangement they felt between one another that was caused by a rocky trial into romance Keita and Ryohei took with one another last year, which ended in the fall of 2005. (Not to mention some odd tension between Ryohei and Ryuichi and Ryuichi and Keita, as well.)

This repair was abruptly halted when Ryuichi was dropped from the community, and subsequentially, Keita and Ryohei left as well.

Chiba Ryohei, spring 2006.

During that time, Ryohei developed a powerful and rather ridiculous crush on Korea's pop superstar, Rain/Bi. During some of the time when Keita and Ryuichi were absent, Rain was a good friend to Ryohei, which only increased Ryohei's feelings for him. He finally confessed how he felt to the Korean in the summer of 2005, but the revelation only caused tension among the two, and they hardly spoke after that. Keita, who knew of the crush, was frustrated and jealous of it, and that further doomed Ryohei's relationship with him.

Also, while disillusioned by his groupmates' absence, Ryohei befriended the producer Asakura Daisuke in the summer of 2005. His relationship with this man, too, was rocky, and it finally came to an unpleasant close in the spring of 2006. Around the same time, he attempted to connect with another producer, Tetsuya Komuro. After only a few outings together, the sharply bizarre state of his, Komuro's, and Asakura's relation to one another simply was too much, and Ryohei decided it would be better if he left the two alone.

Ryohei got into his first real rash of trouble in the spring of 2006 when he spontaneously got a tattoo of three swallowtail butterflies on his left shoulderblade, representing w-inds. Managerment threw a fit, but with the help (sort of) of the other two members, he was let off with a warning to not do anything of the sort again, and the knowledge that all his concert outfits would be covering the ink. What they didn't know was that he had gotten a navel piercing as well, and hopefully there will be no reason to inform them of that fact.

Ryohei dropped himself from JPRP after Ryuichi was cut from the image, completely unable to deal, and not wanting to ever have the boy replaced. He has since been something of a recluse.

[edit] Quirks

Ryohei really loves Korean pop, especially the dancing. His favorite groups are Super Junior and H.O.T.. Before his friendship broke with the man, Ryohei greatly admired and looked up to Rain, though now he simply can't enjoy the music the way he used to.

He aspires to someday get the w-inds. choreographer to incorperate a more athletic dancing style.

He resents any and all references as to the sexual appeal of his mouth.

His absolute favorite w-inds. song is Paradox.
